Pregnancy Home > PremesisRx Warnings and Precautions

It is important to review the PremesisRx warnings and precautions prior to taking the prenatal vitamins. For instance, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider prior to taking PremesisRx if you have anemia or any allergies. PremesisRx contains folic acid, which can mask certain types of anemia. Also, PremesisRx may interact with certain other medications and should not be taken by people who have certain allergies.

PremesisRx: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking PremesisRx® prenatal vitamins if you have:

  • Anemia
  • Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.

Also, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

(PremesisRx is no longer being manufactured and should no longer be sold in the United States. Please consult your healthcare provider for further information.)

Specific Precautions and Warnings for PremesisRx

Some warnings and precautions to be aware of prior to taking PremesisRx include the following:

  • PremesisRx contains folic acid, which can mask certain types of anemia. This means that if you take enough folic acid, certain types of anemia may not show up on blood tests. However, this does not apply to all types of anemia. If you have anemia, check with your healthcare provider before taking PremesisRx. Also, unlike most prenatal vitamins, PremesisRx does not contain iron, which is necessary to treat certain types of anemia.

  • PremesisRx may interact with a few other medications (see PremesisRx Drug Interactions).

  • PremesisRx is safe for women who are breastfeeding (see PremesisRx and Breastfeeding).
