Prepidil Drug Interactions
Prepidil® (dinoprostone vaginal gel) is unlikely to react with most other drugs. However, it may interact with oxytocin (Pitocin®). Oxytocin is a medication used to stimulate labor, and Prepidil may increase its effects. The manufacturer of Prepidil recommends that if oxytocin is to be used, it should be given 6 to 12 hours after Prepidil.
It is possible that not all Prepidil drug interactions were discussed in this article. Although Prepidil is not expected to interfere with most medications, it is important to remember that it has not been studied with every medicine. Drug interactions may be discovered in the future.
Therefore, you should tell your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and vitamins or supplements. Any time you start or stop a medication, talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific interactions that may apply to you.
