Pets and Pregnancy

Dogs and Pregnancy

If your dog has been to the vet this year and is up to date on its rabies shots, you should not worry about caring for it during your pregnancy. However, as an extra precaution, you should have your dog examined for parasites that have been known to infect humans.

Turtles and Pregnancy

Pet turtles are known to transmit salmonella bacterial infections to humans; therefore, you should avoid touching the animal (and the water that it swims in) while you are pregnant. Make sure to wear gloves if you have to handle the turtle, clean the tank, or change the water.
