11 Weeks Pregnant
When you are 11 weeks pregnant, your baby is growing rapidly. Week 11 marks the end of the embryonic period -- your baby is now a fetus. At this point, the fetus is developing teeth and hair follicles. When you are 11 weeks pregnant, you may have another prenatal checkup. Your doctor will check your weight, urine, blood pressure, and uterus to make sure that your pregnancy is progressing normally. By the end of week 11 of your pregnancy, your baby will be about 2 inches in length.
Once you are 11 weeks pregnant, the most critical part of your baby's development is over, and the embryo is now technically called a fetus. At 11 weeks pregnant, you will most likely get to hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time!
Your baby will begin to grow very rapidly, and by the end of week 11, your baby will be about 2 inches in length. To accommodate this growth, the blood vessels in the placenta are increasing -- both in size and in number -- to provide the baby with more nutrients. At the middle of week 11, you have 80 days down -- only 200 to go!
