An Overview of Anal Sex During Pregnancy
As your body changes and grows with your pregnancy, so may your sexual urges. One thing you do not have to worry about is contraception! You can have as much sex as you and your partner want, without the worry of becoming pregnant. (Be sure to talk with your doctor to make sure sex during pregnancy is safe for your particular situation.)
You may also be wondering: "What can we do sexually?" There are many ways that you can still enjoy sex with this new changing body shape! Try experimenting with your partner -- you may grow together and learn new things about each other.
Some couples enjoy anal sex and wonder if it is safe when they are pregnant. For the most part, anal sex during pregnancy is safe, but in some cases, it can be a bit risky.
Things to Consider About Pregnancy and Anal Sex
During pregnancy, a number of your blood vessels are larger than normal, including those in the rectum.
This can cause inflammation or even
hemorrhoids. If this is the case in your situation, it is probably not a good idea to have anal sex, as it could cause irritation and potential infection to the area.
If this does not apply to you, it is important to keep a few other things in mind about:
- If you have any rectal bleeding, wait to try anal sex until the bleeding has cleared up.
- Be careful to take it slowly if you are having anal sex. This area does not stretch like the vagina, and you want to avoid tearing any rectal tissues.
- After anal sex, make sure that your partner does not put his penis in your vagina until his penis has been cleaned off. If it is not washed after being in the anal area, it could lead to a urinary tract infection (UTI).
- Anal sex has a higher rate of STD (sexually transmitted disease) transmission -- make sure to use a condom.
