PreferaOB Side Effects
Reported side effects of the individual ingredients in PreferaOB products have included indigestion, nausea, and dizziness. However, extensive clinical studies have not been done on PreferaOB, as this vitamin does not require approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. While most reactions tend to be minor and easy to treat, seek medical treatment if you develop severe constipation, unusual bruising, or other potentially serious problems.
An Introduction to PreferaOB Side EffectsAs with any medicine, PreferaOB® can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes this vitamin will have problems. In fact, most women tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with PreferaOB. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)
Common Side Effects of PreferaOBPrenatal vitamins do not require approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and are usually not studied as extensively as other types of medications. Therefore, detailed information about the possible side effects is not available.
Based on the reported side effects of the individual components of PreferaOB, however, adverse reactions can include but are not limited to:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal (stomach) pain
- Heartburn or indigestion
- A metallic or unpleasant taste in the mouth
- Flushing (a sudden warmth and redness) of the face, neck, and chest area
- Dark stools
- A fishy aftertaste or burps (for PreferaOB+DHA™ and PreferaOB ONE™, but not regular PreferaOB)
- A fishy odor (for PreferaOB+DHA and PreferaOB ONE, but not regular PreferaOB).
As you can see, many of the possible PreferaOB side effects are also some of the complaints that are common during pregnancy. Therefore, it can be difficult to tell whether the side effect is due to the prenatal vitamin or the pregnancy itself.
