Preeclampsia symptoms usually include high blood pressure, swelling of the hands and face, abnormal weight gain, and protein in the urine. Other preeclampsia symptoms may include vision problems, abdominal pain, and headaches. It's important to remember that these possible preeclampsia symptoms can be caused by other conditions. If you experience any of these possible preeclampsia symptoms, you should inform your healthcare provider. He or she may track your blood pressure and the level of protein in your urine; order and analyze blood tests that detect signs of preeclampsia; and monitor fetal development more closely.
