PreCare

PreCare products contain a variety of vitamins and minerals that are specifically designed for pregnant women. These prenatal vitamins are available only by prescription and come in two forms, PreCare Premium and PreCare Chewables. Both products come in the form of a tablet that is taken once a day. PreCare products contain 1 mg of folic acid per dose, which helps to prevent certain birth defects. Possible side effects of PreCare include nausea, constipation, and diarrhea.

 

What Is PreCare?

PreCare Premium™ and PreCare® Chewables are prescription prenatal vitamins. These two products contain similar (but not identical) vitamins and minerals, but PreCare Chewables are (as you might guess) chewable, while PreCare Premium tablets are not.

How Does PreCare Work?

PreCare
 prenatal vitamins (including PreCare Chewables) contain a variety of vitamins and minerals that are important for a healthy pregnancy. Probably most importantly, these products both contain folic acid (1 mg per day), which helps to prevent certain birth defects, such as spina bifida. They also contain iron, calcium, and a variety of other vitamins and minerals.
 
PreCare Premium (but not PreCare Chewables) contains docusate sodium, a stool softener that can help relieve constipation (which is common during pregnancy and can be made worse by prenatal vitamins).
