PreCare Premium™ and PreCare
® Chewables are
prescription prenatal vitamins. These two products contain similar (but not identical) vitamins and minerals, but PreCare Chewables are (as you might guess) chewable, while PreCare Premium tablets are not.
(Click PreCare Uses for more information on what PreCare is used for, including possible off-label uses.)
PreCare products are made by Ther-Rx Corporation.
PreCare
prenatal vitamins (including PreCare Chewables) contain a variety of vitamins and minerals that are important for a healthy pregnancy. Probably most importantly, these products both contain
folic acid (1 mg per day), which helps to prevent certain birth defects, such as
spina bifida. They also contain iron, calcium, and a variety of other vitamins and minerals.
PreCare Premium (but not PreCare Chewables) contains docusate sodium, a stool softener that can help relieve
constipation (which is common during pregnancy and can be made worse by prenatal vitamins).
