Preparing for a Postpartum Tubal Ligation

A
postpartum tubal ligation is unique in that it occurs after a normal vaginal birth -- usually one to two days after the birth of your child. However, it does not typically change the amount of time spent in the hospital after you give birth.

As with all surgeries, it is important for you to have an empty stomach prior to the procedure. For that reason, you will be asked not to eat or drink anything after midnight on the night before your surgery.
