Postpartum Tubal Ligation Risks -- Organ Damage
During any abdominal surgery, it is possible that damage to your organs can occur. Organs that may be damaged include the intestines, bladder, ureters, ovaries, fallopian tubes or the uterus. Because of the nature of this surgery, these injuries are very rare. If any injury does occur, the treatment options will vary depending on the damage. In most cases, these injuries are found right away, and can be repaired and will heal without a problem. If they do not heal, another surgery may be needed. Sometimes an injury to an organ may not appear at the time of the operation, but shows up later. This may also require another surgery to repair the problem.
