NataChew
® is a
prescription prenatal vitamin. Unlike most
prenatal vitamins, NataChew tablets are chewable, which is helpful for women who have trouble swallowing tablets. Many women also report that chewable prenatal vitamins may be easier to stomach than other prenatal vitamins, especially for women with morning sickness. NataChew tablets are wildberry flavored.
NataChew is made by Warner Chilcott, Inc.
NataChew prenatal vitamins contain a variety of vitamins and minerals that are important for a healthy pregnancy. Probably most importantly, these prenatal vitamins contain
folic acid (1 mg per day), an important nutrient that can prevent certain birth defects (such as
spina bifida). They also contain iron and a variety of other vitamins.
When and How to Take NataChew
Some general considerations for when and how to take NataChew include the following:
- NataChew comes in the form of a chewable tablet. It is taken by mouth once daily.
- It does not matter what time of day you take NataChew prenatal vitamins. If they seem to make your morning sickness worse, try taking them later in the day.
- NataChew can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. The iron in NataChew may be better absorbed on an empty stomach, but most women find that taking prenatal vitamins with a little food usually helps with stomach upset.
- Let your healthcare provider know if you have trouble keeping NataChew down or if it causes significant nausea. Your healthcare provider may have some useful suggestions or may recommend a different prenatal vitamin.
- For the prenatal vitamins to work properly, they must be taken as prescribed. NataChew will not work if you stop taking it.
