What Does a Mucus Plug Look Like?

Losing your mucus plug is a sign your body is starting to prepare for labor. You may lose your mucus plug as early as one to two weeks before the signs of true labor appear, or just as labor itself is beginning.
Many women do not necessarily notice losing their mucus plug. This is because there is already so much vaginal discharge during pregnancy, especially during the time leading up to labor and delivery.
