Pregnancy Home > Stuart Prenatal Side Effects

Side effects of Stuart Prenatal vitamins may include headaches, insomnia, and nausea. However, this information is based on the side effects that can occur from the individual components in Stuart Prenatal (because Stuart Prenatal has not been extensively studied). Potentially serious Stuart Prenatal side effects that may require medical attention include severe constipation, severe nausea or vomiting, and allergic reactions.

An Introduction to Stuart Prenatal Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Stuart Prenatal® and Stuart Prenatal + DHA® vitamins. However, not everyone who takes the prenatal vitamins will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate them quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Stuart Prenatal. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of Stuart Prenatal side effects with you.)

Possible Side Effects of Stuart Prenatal

Because prenatal vitamins do not need FDA approval, they are usually not studied as extensively as other types of medications. As a result, detailed information about the possible side effects of prenatal vitamins is not available. However, based on the side effects of the individual components of Stuart Prenatal, the following side effects are possible:
  • Constipation (although diarrhea is also possible)
  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • Muscle aches and pains
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Intestinal cramps
  • Fatigue
  • Gas or belching
  • Headaches
  • Metallic taste
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Insomnia
  • Yellow-orange discoloration of the urine
  • Loss of appetite.
In addition, because they contain fish oil, Stuart Prenatal + DHA gelcaps may cause a fishy aftertaste or fishy burps. However, the gelcaps are enteric-coated so they will dissolve in the intestines instead of the stomach. This helps to prevent fishy tastes and burps.
As you can see, many of the possible Stuart Prenatal side effects are also some of the common aches, pains, and annoyances that can occur during pregnancy. Therefore, it can be difficult to tell whether Stuart Prenatal (or the pregnancy itself) is causing a particular side effect.
