A healthcare provider may prescribe Prenate Elite prenatal vitamins to supplement any nutritional gaps in a pregnant woman's diet. Prenate Elite uses are also beneficial for women who are breastfeeding and for women trying to get pregnant. These vitamins contain a large dose of iron, which may be beneficial for women who are prone to anemia. The prenatal vitamins are not recommended for use in children or elderly people.
What Is Prenate Elite Used For?Prenate Elite® is a prescription prenatal vitamin (a supplement specifically designed for pregnant women). Prenate Elite is used to fill in any nutritional gaps in the diet of a pregnant woman. Even women who attempt to eat nutritional and well-balanced diets may be prone to having nutritional gaps during pregnancy, due to food aversions, morning sickness, and other problems.
Prenate Elite may also be useful for breastfeeding women and women trying to conceive. Because it is important to get enough folic acid prior to pregnancy and during early pregnancy (including the early weeks before it is even possible to know if you are pregnant), your healthcare provider may recommend that you take a prenatal vitamin while trying to get pregnant. In fact, because unplanned pregnancies are so common, it is a good idea for any sexually active woman of reproductive age to take a prenatal vitamin (or at least a multivitamin with a minimum of 400 mcg of folic acid).
How Does Prenate Elite Work?
Prenate Elite prenatal vitamins contain a variety of vitamins and minerals that are important for a healthy pregnancy. Probably most importantly, Prenate Elite contains 400 mcg of folic acid and 1.1 mg of Quatrefolic® (which is equal to 600 mcg of folic acid). Folic acid and Quatrefolic are both forms of folate, an important nutrient that can prevent certain birth defects (such as spina bifida). Unlike folic acid, Quatrefolic does not need to be changed by the body to be active.
Prenate Elite also contains iron, calcium, and a variety of other vitamins and minerals.
