Changes in Your Body When 31 Weeks Pregnant

During week 31 of pregnancy, your abdomen may be aching frequently as your uterus continues to stretch. Other physical changes you experience may include backaches and breathlessness. Talk to your doctor about the breathlessness -- it may be a sign of anemia, or just the fact that your baby is pushing on your lungs.

Other things you may be experiencing when you are 31 weeks pregnant include:

  • Varicose veins, which are enlarged veins. If they become painful, talk to your healthcare provider about compression stockings. Some women do get them on their labia. Don't worry -- they will go away as soon as the baby is born. About 10 percent of women will get varicose veins.

  • Colostrum leaking from your breasts.

  • Weight gain of about a pound a week.

  • Whitish vaginal discharge, which may be getting heavier. This is normal. Make sure to let your healthcare provider know if the discharge is thick or discolored or if you have pain, burning, unusual odor, or itching.
