Pregnancy Home > PreferaOB Uses

There are three different products available for PreferaOB, which are used for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive. These products contain important vitamins and minerals that can help support a healthy pregnancy and provide important nutrients needed during and after pregnancy. PreferaOB is available by prescription only and is not intended for use in children or older adults.

What Is PreferaOB Used For?

PreferaOB® is a line of vitamins available by prescription only. It is used as a dietary supplement to help support the nutritional needs of women before, during, and after pregnancy. The specific vitamins in the PreferaOB line include the following:
  • PreferaOB -- a basic prenatal vitamin that comes in a small, easy-to-swallow tablet
  • PreferaOB+DHA™ -- a basic prenatal vitamin in a small, easy-to-swallow tablet, along with a DHA supplement in a softgel capsule
  • PreferaOB ONE™ -- a combination of a basic prenatal vitamin plus DHA in one softgel capsule.
All three products are appropriate for use in women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, or have recently given birth (in the "postpartum" period). Prenatal vitamins, or at least a folic acid supplement, are important for women trying to get pregnant. Folic acid can help prevent birth defects in the very early weeks of pregnancy, even before a woman may know she is pregnant.
Prenatal vitamins are a good idea for use during pregnancy and for a while afterward, especially for women who are nursing, to help meet the increased nutritional demands of pregnancy.
