Treatment Options for a Nestabs Overdose

The treatment for an overdose on Nestabs will vary. If the overdose was recent, a healthcare provider may administer certain medicines to induce vomiting or place a tube into the stomach to "pump" it. A medication known as deferoxamine (Desferal®) may be given as well. This medicine binds to iron in the blood so it can be removed from the body.

Treatment will also involve supportive care, which consists of treating the symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose. Supportive treatment options for a Nestabs overdose may include:

  • Close monitoring of temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure
  • Fluids through an intravenous line (IV), if necessary, for dehydration
  • Blood tests to measure the amount of iron in the blood.

It is important that you seek medical attention immediately if you believe that you or someone else may have taken too much Nestabs. It is also important to store all prenatal vitamins, including Nestabs, out of the reach of children to help prevent an accidental overdose.
