Gesticare Drug Interactions
When Gesticare is taken with certain other medications, drug interactions may occur that could decrease the absorption of the medicines. Some of the medications that may cause drug interactions with Gesticare include tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics, bisphosphonate medicines, and thyroid replacement medications.
(Regular Gesticare is no longer being manufactured. Gesticare DHA is still available.)
Gesticare™ can potentially interact with a few medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Gesticare include:
- Bisphosphonate medications, including:
- "Quinolone" (fluoroquinolone) antibiotics, such as:
- Ciprofloxacin (Cipro®)
- Gatifloxacin (Tequin®)
- Levofloxacin (Levaquin®)
- Moxifloxacin (Avelox®)
- Norfloxacin (Noroxin®)
- Ofloxacin (Floxin®)
- Tetracycline antibiotics, such as:
- Doxycycline (Periostat®, Vibramycin®, and several other brands)
- Minocycline (Minocin® and several other brands)
- Tetracycline (Sumycin®)
- Thyroid replacement medications, including:
- Liothyronine (Cytomel®)
- Liotrix (Thyrolar®)
- Levothyroxine (Levothroid®, Levoxyl®, Synthroid®, Tirosint®, Unithroid®)
