Gesticare and Breastfeeding
Studies on breastfeeding and Gesticare show that many of the vitamins and minerals in the supplement pass through breast milk (which would benefit the infant). Breastfeeding is a time of increased nutritional need, so it is often recommended that breastfeeding women continue to take a prenatal vitamin, such as Gesticare.

Gesticare™ is considered to be safe for use while breastfeeding. In fact, it is usually recommended that breastfeeding women take a prenatal vitamin, since breastfeeding (like pregnancy) is a time of increased nutritional need.
(Regular Gesticare is no longer being manufactured. Gesticare DHA is still available.)
Research has demonstrated that many of the vitamins and minerals in Gesticare pass through breast milk. However, this is usually a very good thing. For an infant who is exclusively breastfed, breast milk is the only dietary source of important vitamins and minerals. Keep in mind that it is not a good idea to take too much of any particular vitamin or mineral, so you should not take any additional vitamins and minerals (unless you have your healthcare provider's approval).
There is one exception to this suggestion -- prenatal vitamins (including Gesticare products) usually do not contain enough calcium for most women. Be sure to ask your healthcare provider about any additional calcium supplementation you may need.

You should talk with your healthcare provider about taking Gesticare if you are nursing. Each woman's situation is different, and you and your healthcare provider understand your situation best. After considering what you want and expect, as well as your current health situation, you and your healthcare provider can make a shared decision about breastfeeding and Gesticare that is right for you.
In general, Gesticare is considered to be safe (and actually beneficial) for nursing women and their infants.
