Expecta Drug Interactions

Before taking other medications along with Expecta Lipil, be sure to let your healthcare provider or pharmacist know. He or she may not be aware that you are taking Expecta Lipil because it is available without a prescription. Expecta Lipil drug interactions may occur if the supplement is taken with aspirin, heparin, or warfarin. These interactions may increase the risk of bleeding.

 

An Overview of Expecta Interactions

Expecta® Lipil® can potentially interact with a few other medications. Before taking any other medications, be sure to let your healthcare provider or pharmacist know that you are taking Expecta Lipil (because the supplements are available without a prescription). Some of these medicines that may lead to Expecta Lipil drug interactions include:
 
  • Aspirin (Bayer® and others)
  • Heparin or heparin-like products, such as:

 

    • Dalteparin (Fragmin®)
    • Enoxaparin (Lovenox®)
    • Tinzaparin (Innohep®) 

 

  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
     

Expecta Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Expecta Lipil is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
 
 
Aspirin (Bayer and Others)
Theoretically, the omega-3 fatty acid in Expecta Lipil may increase the risk of bleeding when combined with aspirin. However, most pregnant women should avoid aspirin. One low-dose aspirin (81 mg) a day, which is sometimes recommended for certain conditions related to pregnancy, should probably not cause any problems. This interaction seems to be more severe with fish oil supplements (which contain several omega-3 fatty acids) and may be less severe with supplements that contain just DHA (like Expecta Lipil).
