Ectopic Pregnancy? Ecopic pregnancy is a common misspelling of ectopic pregnancy.
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants somewhere other than the uterus. An ectopic pregnancy is also known as a tubal pregnancy because, in most cases, the fertilized egg implants in one of the fallopian tubes. Some symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy can include lower abdominal pain (or lower stomach pain), a late menstrual period, and vaginal bleeding. In order to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, your healthcare provider may recommend certain blood tests, an ultrasound, or a laparoscopy. Treatment of an ectopic pregnancy is necessary to prevent serious or even life-threatening complications.
