An Introduction to DuetDHA Side Effects
As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Duet
®DHA and
DuetDHAec prenatal vitamins. However, not everyone who takes the vitamins will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate them quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.
(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with DuetDHA. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of DuetDHA side effects with you.)
Possible Side Effects of DuetDHA
Prenatal vitamins do not need FDA approval, and, as a result, they are usually not studied as thoroughly as other types of medications.
Therefore, detailed information about the possible side effects of prenatal vitamins is not available. However, based on the side effects of the individual components of DuetDHA, the following side effects are possible:
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Heartburn or indigestion
- Nausea and vomiting
- Gas or belching
- Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
- Headaches
- Intestinal cramps
- Muscle aches and pains
- Metallic taste in the mouth
- Insomnia
- Yellow-orange discoloration of the urine
- Flushing
- Loss of appetite.
As you can see, many of the possible DuetDHA side effects are also some of the common aches, pains, and annoyances that are common during pregnancy. Therefore, it can be difficult to tell if a particular side effect is caused by DuetDHA or by the pregnancy itself.
