Citranatal Dosage

The recommended dose for Citranatal Rx is one tablet once a day. For all other Citranatal products, the recommended amount is one tablet (which contains the vitamins and minerals) and one softgel capsule (which contains the omega-3 fatty acids) per day. It is recommended to take this supplement before, during, and after pregnancy.

Citranatal Dosage: An Introduction

There is only one recommended dose for Citranatal® prenatal vitamins. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Citranatal Dosing

These prenatal vitamins come in four different forms which vary in their iron, calcium, and DHA content. Your healthcare provider will help you choose the right Citranatal product for your particular situation.

For Citranatal DHA, Citranatal 90 DHA, and Citranatal Assure, the recommended dosage is one tablet and one softgel capsule per day. They can be taken at the same time or at different times of the day.

If the softgel (which contains the omega-3 fatty acids) causes extreme nausea or vomiting, take just the tablet (which contains the vitamins and minerals) until you can speak with your healthcare provider. The tablets contain folic acid, which is very important during early pregnancy.

For Citranatal Rx (which does not contain DHA), the recommended dosage is one tablet daily.

General Information on Dosing With Citranatal

Some considerations for people taking Citranatal include the following:

  • Citranatal Rx comes in the form of a single tablet that is taken once daily.

  • Citranatal DHA, Citranatal 90 DHA, and Citranatal Assure come in packages with both softgels and tablets. The tablets contain the vitamins and minerals, and the capsules contain the DHA. One tablet and one softgel are taken once daily (it does not matter if you take them together or at different times).

  • Citranatal products can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. The iron in these products may be better absorbed on an empty stomach, but most women find that taking prenatal vitamins with a little food usually helps with stomach upset.

  • Let your healthcare provider know if you have trouble keeping Citranatal products down or if they cause significant nausea. Your healthcare provider may have some useful suggestions or may recommend a different prenatal vitamin.

  • For the vitamins to work properly, they must be taken as prescribed. Citranatal will not work if you stop taking it.

  • If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or Citranatal dosing in general, please talk with your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
