Now that you have seen the normal anatomy of pregnancy, let's talk about why your doctor is recommending a cesarean delivery.
Sometimes, medical conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure can make it less safe for a mother to deliver her baby vaginally. For example, women with diabetes often have babies that are larger than average, which makes it difficult for the baby to fit through the pelvis. High blood pressure can be difficult to control during pregnancy, and a planned cesarean delivery may be necessary to prevent complications that are caused by uncontrolled high blood pressure.
Also, if the mother has an active genital herpes sore in or near the birth canal at the time labor begins, a cesarean section is usually recommended.
Because of your specific medical condition, your doctor has recommended that you deliver your baby by cesarean section.
