Cervidil Drug Interactions
Although it is unlikely to interact with most other medicines, Cervidil® (dinoprostone vaginal insert) does have the potential to react with oxytocin (Pitocin®).
Oxytocin is used to stimulate labor, and Cervidil may increase its effects. The manufacturer of Cervidil recommends that these medications should not be used at the same time. Instead, at least 30 minutes should separate the removal of Cervidil and the use of oxytocin.
Even though Cervidil is not expected to interact with most medications, it's important to remember that this product has not been studied with every medicine. Drug interactions may be discovered in the future.
Therefore, tell your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and vitamins or supplements. Any time you start or stop a medication, talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about interactions that may apply to you.
