Carenatal DHA Drug Interactions

Carenatal DHA Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Carenatal DHA is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Aspirin (Bayer, Ecotrin, and Numerous Others)
In theory, the omega-3 fatty acids in Carenatal DHA may increase the risk of bleeding when combined with aspirin. However, most pregnant women should avoid aspirin anyway. One low-dose aspirin (81 mg) a day, which is sometimes recommended for certain conditions related to pregnancy, should probably not cause any problems.

Bisphosphonates
The minerals in Carenatal DHA may decrease the absorption of bisphosphonates into the body. However, bisphosphonates are usually not recommended for pregnant women, so this is generally not a problem. If your healthcare provider recommends that you take Carenatal DHA with a bisphosphonate, be sure to take Carenatal DHA at least two hours after your bisphosphonate dose.

Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics
The minerals in Carenatal DHA may prevent fluoroquinolone antibiotics from being absorbed into the body as well as they normally should. If your healthcare provider recommends that you take both Carenatal DHA and a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, be sure to take the antibiotic at least two hours before, or six hours after, taking your Carenatal DHA dose.

Tetracycline Antibiotics
The minerals in Carenatal DHA may prevent tetracycline antibiotics from being absorbed into the body. If your healthcare provider recommends that you take both Carenatal DHA and a tetracycline antibiotic, be sure to take the antibiotic at least two hours before, or six hours after, taking your Carenatal DHA dose. Keep in mind that tetracycline antibiotics are usually not recommended for pregnant women.
